Anyone else going to the shows at the Fillmore? I'm going Thursday and Saturday, but my show-buddy cancelled, so I may be rolling on my own. Someone wanna meet up before the shows?

yo la tengo in Van Horn, TX

I went on a vicious drive from my homeland to Austin this past weekend and came across the following:

It's only feasible because Yo La Tengo played a festival in nearby Marfa last October. I believe they also used this logo at some point. Anyone with insight?

I would have thought Holiday Inn would have sued this hotel. It's sort of a degradation to their name, but I guess this Holiday Inn was here first.
BTW, if you every get a chance to stop in Van Horn, don't.

Best band ever?

I must say, I've been making my own music all my life and these guys have guided me so profoundly over the last 10 years or so. I can't think of another existing band that moves me so deeply.
Thanx for starting this tribe and I'm looking forward to learning more juicy tid-bits about ol' YLT.

Yo La Tengo is playing two shows in October, including one in Marfa, Texas at the Chinati Festival.

FMU Show

so.....I just unearthed a recording of one of Yo La Tengo's fundraising WFMU shows. I think I recorded it back in 97-98 when I was in NYC. I could throw up a bunch of MP3s if anyone is interested (and when I've got the time!).

The show is a call-in request show, so the band is doing a lot of different material...

Yo La Tengo in Tucson

Due to the tiny membership, I doubt anyone else was there.
They put on a great show. I had never seen them live, and they played everything that I wanted to hear, even some that I didn't expect like "Nuclear War" and "Stockholm Syndrome."
They also took like 5 requests, which was really cool, and played a little over 2 hours.
They did this sort of 50's doo-wop parody for "Nothing But You And Me." They had this whole choreography going so I figure that they do that for just about every show. Pretty funny.
I also was amazed at their versitility as far as instrument changes. Just jump and run around.
The question remains: why the hell would you come to Tucson, especially in June? Apparently they hadn't in about 9 years, but it just seems strange to me.
Just a thought.

Hey folks, I think a lot of YLT folks are into Vic Chesnutt, even though the music is very different, but each artist puts a lot of intelligence into their music, so maybe that's it.

Anyway, I discovered there was no Vic tribe here which was a darn shame, so I started one. I need one more member so that the tribe can be listed in the list of tribes. But I hope all of you who are interested join.
