Will anyone be recording the WFMU show this Saturday (March 20th)? I'm not able to! :(

Re: WFMU
Wed, March 17, 2004 - 11:45 PMOooh! They archive! Those beautiful people archive! I can do it when I come back! Yes! This is the best news I've had all day. It sounds like a pretty good quality stream, too.
So in short, yes. But not until Monday night at the earliest. -

Re: WFMU
Thu, March 18, 2004 - 2:44 PMWoo hoo! That means we can all listen, yeah? Is it a downloadable archive (a la MP3 or something) which we could save to a computer? -

Re: WFMU
Thu, March 18, 2004 - 9:37 PMYeah, but it's a *stream*, and not a downloadable thing. There's software out there tha can capture streams directly, but not any good free programs that I know. And I'm not sure how long WFMU is planning to keep that up there. I'm planning to stream the thing and record it indirectly with some other programs I already own. There will be some loss in sound quality, but it probably will be inaudible to the average ear. It may be possible to con me into making those who ask nicely a CD-R of the show (that is assuming this whole setup works--I haven't really tested it much yet). Or, if you can find someone to host ~100 MB, I could upload it somewhere... -

Re: WFMU
Fri, March 19, 2004 - 9:36 AMI was talking to a friend last night who told me about a site that people upload concerts to for others to download. It's free. And I can't for the life of me remember what the hell it was called. If anyone knows, it could be a solution to this porblem.
In liu of that, I would humbly ask very very nicely if I could have a cd-r copy. Oh please! I'll send money and many many thanks! :) -

Re: WFMU
Fri, March 19, 2004 - 11:58 PM'k, let me know (and that goes for anyone reading this) if you find out about this site.
Otherwise, since you're the tribe mod, I don't see how I can deny you a copy. Money is not accepted (CD-Rs are too cheap for it to be worth my time to take a payment =) ), but I do accept eternal gratitude, shor-term gratitude, mix CDs (not, like, burned albums--I don't care for those--but putting together a set of disparate songs that flows together well is an art), or miscellaneous favors.

Re: WFMU
Fri, March 26, 2004 - 12:02 AMGah!! Apparently, WFMU archives absolutely everything except the cool shows. I don't know what the deal is. I e-mailed the host, hopefully there will be some answers. Or heads will roll...

Re: WFMU
Sun, April 25, 2004 - 10:24 PMSorry--I've been lame and haven't followed up on this. Gaylord Fields, the host of the marathon show, never wrote back. I'll try writing to the band, I guess, but if you want to try e-mailing Gaylord yourselves (there *is* strength in numbers, after all), you can do so here:

Just be nice. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: WFMU
Tue, April 27, 2004 - 3:27 AMYo La Tengo has been peforming during WFMU's marathon for several years, and tradionally they ask that the show *not* be archived on the station's website. Otherwise, WFMU archives almost every show on their schedule. That being said, you more than likely should be able to find mp3's of YLT's set that someone recorded (this years' and years past) on the usual file-trading networks. I've seen them there any number of times. -

Tue, April 27, 2004 - 6:33 PMYeah, that's pretty much what the band's just told me. Hmm...
