Yo La Tengo in Tucson

Due to the tiny membership, I doubt anyone else was there.
They put on a great show. I had never seen them live, and they played everything that I wanted to hear, even some that I didn't expect like "Nuclear War" and "Stockholm Syndrome."
They also took like 5 requests, which was really cool, and played a little over 2 hours.
They did this sort of 50's doo-wop parody for "Nothing But You And Me." They had this whole choreography going so I figure that they do that for just about every show. Pretty funny.
I also was amazed at their versitility as far as instrument changes. Just jump and run around.
The question remains: why the hell would you come to Tucson, especially in June? Apparently they hadn't in about 9 years, but it just seems strange to me.
Just a thought.

Yeah, I saw their three (three!) SF shows and it was great. They did that little dance routine at every show, and everyone loved it. They went heavy on the "Summer Sun" material, but they did it really well, and it actually made me like the record more. The first two nights they closed with "Nuclear War" and the third they opened with it. This was the day before Memorial Day. Right before the band came on, the lights went down and we heard this march beat coming from backstage. Then the band took the stage, with marching band drums strapped on, headed by Ira carrying a big American flag. He set it down off to the side of the stage and they broke into "Nuclear War". The flag stayed there for the whole set. That was pretty cool...

The second night was a little skronk-heavy, but overall, all three were great shows. They did with a beautiful quiet pop song on the second (possibly third) night for one of the encores. Does anyone know what that was?
